The Blood, Sex, and Gore of Headsick Pinups!

AnnouncementsHorror and porn are two separate genres of art that have entertained and frightened the consciousness of society for as long as their have been expressive mediums for them to do as much...

The relationship between horror and porn, sexuality and fear, beauty and the grotesque, have an intimate relationship that has deep rooted psycho-sexual sociological natures. Let it suffice to say that the aesthetics of horror and erotica do not just entertain us, they turn us on!

The subtle suggestions of the blending of horror and porn is nothing new. We see elements of its erotic trysts in the earliest of its literature and film. As we evolve as a culture, the degree of what we need to entice us visually has evolved as well. It was only a matter of time for the genres of horror and porn to wed their juices into a sexual cocktail of fright.

This is where Headsickpinups comes in. Within their dark and dirty domain you can find enough blood, gore, and nudity to satiate the most bloodthirsty, deviant, and perverse mind anywhere. Of the many things that Headsickpinups is, it foremost is a website. At Headsickpinups.com you may find a full graveyard of erotic undead photography and enough zombie porn to make you stiff like a corpse in the nether regions of your pants. The arguement of whether pornography, within any artistic medium, is degrading to women is still a hot and sensitive issue. There may not be an answer to satisfy the masses either way. Like most controversial subjects, it has a right to exist. If you dissapprove simply to not view it.

Through the grace of shovels, necromantic rituals, and some hard rigor mortis, I was able to summon Headsickpinups Jew-Unit to enter the bloody chambers of the Chainsaw Mafia for an interview. We allow them to tell their tales of macabre erotica.

TCM: What is the origin of Headsick Pinups?

HP: Headsick comes from my sick mind. I used to always joke about having sex with zombies and some other sick stuff I can’ t really talk about because future projects may revolve around them (and yes it involves another movie). Well one day after I grossed out every girl in the room my friend gave me some cash and told me to get things started. So I decided to buy a camera and become a photographer.

TCM: Tell us about Headsick Pinups. What may the inquiring mind find on the website?

HP: Go to Headsickpinups. com and find out duh! But if you don’ t like naked girls, blood, and gore... you may not like what you see. I make it hot and erotic, but I try to give it an artistic edge as well. We also just finished our first Hardcore Porno DVD. You’ ll find a trailer on there as well... so I guess you’ ll find full on porn too. Ha Ha!

TCM: Do you have many women approaching you to become pinups?

HP: Yeah we get a handful every week. We end up turning 99% of them away though... we’ re a tad bit picky you’ d say.

TCM: What are the requirements for becoming a Headsick model?

HP: Well I like to think that we’re Penthouse "meats" TCM. So we’ re really picky on the looks. Though you might not think all of our models are the hottest you’ ve seen, we’ ll bet that you’ ll think most of them are hot (we all have different tastes right). Build and style is important and the desire to get butt ass naked and do some sexy posing if fake blood is important too. I also think that attitude and personality is pretty damn important too.

TCM: Do the models have much creative input with their individual photo shoots?

HP: They have a bit, but usually it’ s just ideas that pop into my head a few days before we shoot. Here and there though we’ ll get ideas flowing together. I always make sure the girls like the idea before we shoot though.

TCM: What has been the most interesting, frightening, or simply sickest experience with all of your photo sessions?

HP: Honestly nothing to crazy or shocking has happened during a photo session. We always have fun, but I guess it takes a lot to shock me or what have you. It was pretty interesting though when we got Madisyn to pee on Zoe Mathews for the DVD. Madisyn couldn’ t believe that Zoe was ok with it... ha ha!

TCM: Is their anything specific involved in the inspiration for each photo shoot? Any intentional focus on certain aspects of the horror genre?

HP: Not really... I just have ideas pop in the head. At times I’ ll pull from a movie but it’ s usually not the main focus.

TCM: Your newest foray into film is with the “Hardcore Headsick Experiment”. Can you tell us about the DVD?

HP: It’ s an hour long and contains 5 scenes. 4 girl/boy and 1 girl/girl. It was an experiment as the title states. We weren’ t really sure how we were going to tackle it. But we got something pretty cool and different. It’ s hot, it’ s gory, and it’ s not boring. Most porn gets old after the first 1-2 minutes. This one is changing and flashing and doing weird things... it’ s like porn for someone with ADD.

TCM: Will Headsick continue in a cinematic direction?

HP: The plan is to one day make my dream movie... but not sure when I’ ll have the time or the budget for it. It will be more horror then porn, but at the same time, I think most people that watch it may never want to have sex again.

TCM: How has the mainstream horror community, as well as its celebrities, reacted to Headsick?

HP: Honestly I haven’ t really talked to to many celebrities. I don’ t really reach out to them really. I’ ve heard some think it’ s cool, but I’ ve never spoken with them directly. I don’ t think we have the name recognition as of yet. As for the mainstream horror community. A lot em’ love what we do.

TCM: What has been the weirdest thing you have experienced with fans since reaching out to the mainstream horror community?

HP: Weirdest thing is just people who talk to us that think we have no idea about what goes on in the outside world. Like so many people ask us if we know about other companies out there... Another weird thing is "business" people think we’ re just some people doing something for fun. They always pitch project ideas but when we ask for written proposals they can’ t get over the fact that we just don’ t want to team up on an idea... but I guess that’ s just the world... not so much the horror community.

TCM: There is a lot of FX makeup involved with your projects. Who does most of the work? Have any of the artists worked in film?

HP: I have a handful of people that we work with. Lately I’ ve been doing a lot of the stuff on my own since it’ s easier on the budget and time is always an issue. But I know Jen Corona and Dennis have worked on some pretty cool projects out there.

TCM: Horror and porn, or at least blood and erotica, are becoming more popular artistically. Do you feel this trend will continue?

HP: Yeah it will keep growing. People contact me about starting something and ask me if I have ever thought about doing it? Hello what am I doing? Pretty much everything else I’ ve seen has been super lame (side note my pup bomber just farted and I’ m pretty much dying while typing this). Usually really gross girls, piss poor photography, lame gore like the typical girl in a bathtub with blood, and the ever so exciting "why don’ t we just Photoshop it".

TCM: What are your thoughts on the age old argument that pornography is demeaning to women?

HP: We don’ t hold a gun to the girls heads. We don’ t try to talk anyone into that might not want to be into it. Just ask my little lady. She wasn’ t a model and she finally said she wanted to do a shoot. I didn’ t ask her too, I honestly didn’ t want her too. But I’ m not about to say no and I support her in all of her decisions. Now she’ s done a few shoots and she feels like a bad ass. She’ s taking better care of herself then ever and she loves the fact that people enjoy her work. The ones that usually complain do so because they don’ t have the balls to try it or they’ re not good looking enough to do it.

TCM: Have their been a lot of issues with censorship with Headsick? You have had great difficulties with Myspace for example.

HP: Well on Myspace we’ ve been deleted 6 times now I think. A lot of it was little things in Myspace TOS that we didn’ t know about. We try to do things by the book now but we push the envelope at times. The DVD was rough. For awhile there we didn’ t know if we’ d be able to sell them. Don’ t want to go into details because certain things are better left unknown.

TCM: Any input on your perceptions on the role of women in horror?

HP: Just when it comes to what we do. Sex sells... and Horror always looks for the hot ones to be in their movies. Look at Jessica Alba. Chick’ s only good acting roll was in Sin City... but she played a stripper right? Now she stars in her very own horror movie. Sex sells right? Hot chicks almost always make it better.

TCM: One of your newer models Celeste, recently passed away. Will you keep her photo set on the website in her memory? Is their anything you wish to say about her?

HP: My lady asked me if I was going to take them down. I said no... we actually still have another set of hers that will go live at a later date. I just have to decide when I want to do it. We tried to do a little something to pay our respects. Put a RIP on everything that has her in it. As for anything I wish to say about her?

I look at Death differently then most I think. It doesn’ t effect me as it seems to effect others. Like I see people balling over celebrities dying and things like that... it’ s not me really.

But I will say Celeste was awesome. We hung out a couple of times and she was a lot of fun and seemed to enjoy life. She will be missed and we’ d be better off if she was still alive. I won’ t soon forget her if ever.

TCM: What events may we find Headsick attending in the future?

HP: Well this year we have a couple planned but that can always change. This month we have Fangoria Weekend of Horrors LA We always have a huge Halloween Party TBA And we should be attending the LA erotica convention later this year.

TCM: What is in the future for Headsick Pinups?

HP: Well we just did a huge update on the website offering tons of free content now. Right now we’ re working on our 2nd book and it should hopefully be available to a larger public then the first one we did. Other then that we’ re just here to have a good time and make some messed up art.

TCM: Any last words for our chainsaw audience?

HP: Save a cowboy ride a chainsaw!
